Sport is very important at Batchley First. It is something we are highly successful at.
We have achieved Gold School Games Mark for the last four years, and are working towards the Platinum Award. We are current champions in the Redditch First School Tennis and Cricket tournaments.
We achieve this through quality PE teaching and a culture of high expectations around individual and team performance in PE lessons and the variety of clubs we offer. This is implemented during curriculum and non curriculum sessions. Many of these are through local clubs, for example, Bromsgrove Gymnastic Club, Worcestershire Cricket Club, HDA Tennis Club and Aston Villa Football Club. These are amongst a few of the clubs that Batchley First School are associated with. This has obviously been restricted through the pandemic, but will commence immediately, as part of our P.E recovery curriculum.
The school have audited the needs of teachers and wider staff to identify areas for development, facilitate consistency to ensure high quality and engaging PE provision. As a result, staff have had Dance training from NDTA (National Dance Teachers Association) chair person. We have also delivered in-house training from staff who took Sport Leader training funded from previous years Sports Funding. We also use coaches for the dual purpose of coaching the children and modelling best practice for staff.
Please see attached development plan for how we intend to develop our sporting achievement this year, this includes online participation and working towards the School Games Platinum award. The award is considered fairly prestigious and is a reflection of years dedicated to the development of P.E within our school.
