This week in science Reception have been looking at the different parts of plants and flowers and cutting and sticking components into the right place. We have also been reading The Tiny Seed and we collaged and labelled the different p0arts of the flower.
This week we have been reading the story of 'The tiny seed'. We have talked about the seasons and the journey seeds make. We also discussed what seeds need to grow. We have started an observational experiment to see if our bean will grow with water and sunlight, without soil and positioned it onto our window so we can observe the changes.
Reception have really enjoyed looking at the beans that they planted last week. They were very excited to see the 'beanstalk starting to grow.' We used magnifying glasses to see if we could spot any others starting to sprout.
This week we have been talking about supertato, and thought we would try planting and growing our own vegetables. We planted some beans and are looking forward to watching them grow.
Reception have been learning about nocturnal animals this week and have been sorting pictures of animals according to whether they are awake during the day or the night.
